For years I have been trying to get a pan but never found one that was in quite the shape that I wanted or they wanted more than I was willing to spend. But then along came Luke Landers, a local guy here in the Gateway city. He asked me If I wanted to swap my twin cam for the beauty and at first I was hesitant because I owned the twin cam for so long it felt kind of like part of my famiy but after seeing this thing I decided it was time to let her go. After Luke and I came to an agreement we swapped em out. We have also become really good friends. So as it turns out I didn't only get a pan out of the deal. the frame is a stock wishbone and the forks are repop knuckle frontend. the motor has been freshly rebuilt and the rest of the bike is in a crate that will soon be put back together and on the road.

On sept. 17 2011 a group of guys From a Blog deemed the White Knights In the House of Kolor, from Brooklyn, New York put on a great motorcycle show called the Brooklyn invitational. My bike No. 9 was one of the 20 or so bikes that was invited to this extremely masterful production. Other big names such as Paul cox, Keino, Tom Fugle, Lock Baker, And many many more,were there to be a part of the show. While I was there I decided to take as much footage as I could to put this short video together. I don't think this show will ever be topped as far as the variety of the builders that they invite and the different minds and cultures that come together in one spot to share in a common interest of custom motorcycles. It is a great honor on my part to be amongst these people that have inspired me so much. This video is a sort of token of gratitude for the experience of getting to be a part of it. Thank you Wes, Jeffrey, John, and Keino for having me again

68 Triumph, By Tony Stone, Part 1

This is a video I did of my friend Tony Stone with his 68 Triumph Chopper. I filmed it with Canon 5d Mark II. The music also features Tony singing lead vocals in his band the spark thugs. Tony's methods as well as his other talents make him very interesting to film. He is a multi talented guy that is always looking to create and learn new things. The bike featured in this video was made with very basic tools. The dishes created in the tank were done with a nylon mallet. He performed this task so well that no filler was needed under the paint job that he applied himself. He was in the process of painting the rear fender when this video was shot. the parts on the bike were picked from a multitude of places, The seat was made by me and was ressurected to go back on this little girdered chopper. Stay tuned for the follow up to this video when you will get to see it rolling

Shot this the other day from 1150 gs. St. louis offers a wide variety of terrain to ride on within the city limits. Good ground clearance is a must. if you got a low bike your gonna be shit outta luck. If its a hardtail forget about having children. But man its a beautiful place to explore if your willing to put the time in.

I Just did the finishing touches to this bike today. I started building the bike in May with a rough idea in my head as to how I wanted the lines of the rear cowl along with the tank to coincide. The rear aluminum cowl area went through many changes untill I was satisified with it. I kept on completing it and then going back and changing it again. What you see now is the result of a very last minute change to it right before I took it apart to powder the frame. The frame is made up of 4130 chromoloy for slight weight savings and stiffness. When deciding to build another bike I was having a real hard time deciding what power plant to use. I like pans and knuckles but those are not quite readily available. The sportster platform seemed like a logical choice for this bike because of its simplicity and compact design. I've always wanted to build a triumph but it seemed to me that harleys answer "the sportster" to the triumph just fit the bill better. It stared out as an 883 but i rebuilt the motor up to a 1200 with an s&s e carb. The aluminum peices along with the stainless parts underwent alot of sanding and polishing to acheive the look. I love science fiction movies, and movies influence my artistc endeavors in every way. This bike was inspired in part from the speeder bikes in return of the jedi as well as aircraft designed by Howard Hughes. I would be a complete liar if I were to say that Shinya Kimura had nothing to do with the inspiration as well. My first bike was an Evo sportster so they will always have a place in my heart. I got it when I first got married to my wife Emily at age 24 and I named it number nine because it has so much signifigance in my life. It just so happens that it was nine years ago this summer that i got that first sportster. I will post more and better pice later.

This is the sportster I'm building for myself. I built the frame out of 4130. It's light enough to hold straight out in front of you with one hand. Weighs around 45 pounds or so. All sheet metal is going to be polished aluminum. I just finished the bars on Monday. I just got the 1200 kit in today. I'm hoping the bike weighs well under 400 lbs. I surgically removed the stock head tube from the original frame to retain the original VIN number for ease at he insurance agency. I stretched the frame 2 inches out and lowered the head tube 2 inches as well. Set the rake at around 45 degrees. I may try a steering stabilizer to prevent the old fork from flopping around. The ibeam springer is a teds repop. 21" front wheel with a 18" rear

I've never painted before but I thought I'd give it a go and this is what I came up with. I know that my technique needs to improve, so I will keep on practicing. I think this turned out decent though. It Is oil On illustration board. I started out with the airbrush but decided to try the more traditional route. I have always been inspired by his work, and I thought that this image was such a cool angle and perspective that i decided to paint it. If I did not have things like this to do in the winter I think I would lose my mind. I'm gonna try to hone my skills a little more

I built this from butted and straight gauge tubing. It's gonna be my going to the local dive bars and keeping it DUI free machine. It's getting an Alfine 8 speed internal hub and has internal routing for all the cables. It's not super light but it should last a while. Its about 5 pounds the way it sits.

This picture was taken in the mid 50's of my Grandma and Grandpa Mensinger. Richard wasnt my biological grandpa but he was my grandpa none the less. My Grandpa grew up in Nazi Germany. Him and his whole family was stuck there whilst on vacation from the states. He served as one of Hitlers youth. Later in life he found out that he to was part jewish. He told many tales of hardship growing up amidst all of the war and death. He later made his way back to america to join the US Navy and fought in the Korean war. Upon returning home he met and married my Grandma Shirley. She was already raising my Mom and two other kids upon meeting him.I don't understand how a am a desendant of such a beautiful lady.

Krazy Kevin, Forever missed

The first night I met Kevin He had nothing but fantastic and amazing stories and pictures of, and about these insane bikes with woven oil tanks and lore of all these founding fathers of the chopper movement. He had all of these beautiful images taken in the sixties and seventies and he filled my mind with the thoughts of how things must have been at that time. After our evening hanging out at the shop we headed over to a bar and upon walking in some huge russians about twice the size of Kevin asked if we were filming a biker movie. Kevin replied in such a dry and matter of fact manner that we were actually there to film them together in a gay porno, I was giggling instantly, and I thought uh oh here we go, but the russians just looked at him kinda cross for a minute and just went about their way. Hanging out that night with Kevin, Wes, Keino, Ali, John And Jeffro at the most broke down dirty stripper bar in Brooklyn where the girls dance behind the bar was one of the most fun and memorable nights of my life. I'd like to say thanks to the New York guys for giving me the opportunity of meeting Kevin and I am very sorry for his family and all your losses

The picture at the top of this post is what the bike looked like when it came to me on monday . This is what it looks like now. I made a new seat pan that fills out this frame perfectly just a little wider than the seat that was on it. This new seat is 11" by 13.5 or so. The bag Is a brand new design for hardtail frames but I think it will fit on a softail frame as well. Instead of using your typical leather straps to hold the bag on, I used .5" wide high tensile strength zip ties over the leather straps and the bag is so solidly mounted to the bike that the tubing seems like it would rip off before the connections would. the leather on the bag is about 3/16ths of an inch thick, and I think it could also double as a sheild for a magnificent viking going into battle atop a glorious steed of flame . the continous shape of the flap of the bag to the front outer panel of the bag will also prevent sagging as well. I have seen many of my buddies struggling with typically designed bags just to have them eventually tear open from sagging all the way to the road. These things could easily outlast many of us. It is totally overbuilt and ready for the road. It will initially be available in black and brown, But I can do custom colors on them just like I did on this one. It will include 8 half inch wide high tensile strength zip ties in case you need to remove the bag or if you mount it wrong the first time. It will only cost you $259.00.

Really cool video I found about Keino.
There are alot of videos out there about bike builders but few stack up to the imagery created from filming such a masterfull builder. every part of one of his bikes just flows so flawlessly together. Have fun at the brooklyn invitational guys, maybe I'll make it out again next year

Wyoming trip

I am currently in Jackson Wyoming. We drove our dodge sprinter most of the way up here, but when we got around forty miles from Jackson the vehicle died leaving us out in the cold at night. We had to get a tow and it cost us about 500.00 bucks. We then spent the next day trying to figure out the problem by checking the fuel pumps, rail, filter, electrical etc. Etc. To no avail. So I hopped in the van turned the key and it started right up an drove just fine. I think were gonna cut the trip short in order to leave ourselves enough time to get home though with the possible problem we are facing Here are some pics of my bike near where I was mountain biking earlier. At least that was still amazing.

Finished the 1929er

The 1929er is finished I snapped these photos yesterday at a pavilion in front of the missouri river. It rides amazing, super stiff where it needs to be, but the wooden rims soak the road vibration beautifully. The forks were hand built along with the handlebars. They are tig welded 4130 and chrome plated. The whole bike weighs around 26 LBS with no ti or carbon parts on it . Those are buffalo head nickels brazed to the top tube and fork crown. The one on the top tube is a 1929 nickel. I hope to have it at the NAHBS bicycle show in Austin TX in febuary

took some lock on grips. cut off the rubber ,then applied the purple suede then tooled and sewed on the top layer of veg tanned leather to mach my brooks honey saddle and toe straps.

my lugged 29er

I finished building the frame today. This is the frame responsible for slicing my finger open. I did it whilst machining the polished stainless head tube. I started out on this frame with some straight gauge 4130 tubing. I proceeded to bend and shape the tubing to my will, I then notched and finessed the tubing to fit to one another without even alowing so much as a hair through. after all of my tubing was fabbed and fitted I then started boring and machining all of the stainless ends to be welded to one another. after all of the tubing was ready I tig'd them together and then silver brazed the 4130 to the stainless sleeves. when the frame was finally together I sanded, filed, and polished the lugs for what seemed like a lifetime. I then powder coated it purple today. I have an amazing brooks saddle and chris king hubs paired to wooden rims and white industries gear to put on it. the forks and bars were also hand fabbed and will be back from being nickeled later this week. I will post more pice when it is done.
